Shane LeCocq is an accredited professional Ballroom/Latin Dance Instructor/Choreographer with over 22 years experience teaching. He is fully checked out Bronze through Supreme Gold Levels in both the American and International Styles. He is a proud member of the ISTD and NDCA.
A New Orleans native, Shane is truly a unique and versatile talent. His performance life began as a child but really got going formally in theater/film in high school in the early 90's, starring in 11 plays. Shane left for New York in 1994 to attend NYU, where he graduated in 1998 from the Tisch School of the Arts, having studied at the Atlantic Theater Company studio under the tutelage of David Mamet and William H Macy, as well as StoneStreet's Film/TV studio.
After starring in several Off-Broadway shows, his life took a turn to include teaching Ballroom/Latin dancing. Shane has worked for Arthur Murray's in both New York from 1998-2000 and in Dayton, Ohio from 2001-2004 and with his professional partner at the time won the Arthur Murray Future Champion American Smooth Title. Since returning back to his hometown of New Orleans, he has won countless Pro-Am titles at national competitions, but still enjoys the purity of teaching social dancing. Shane is the owner and artistic director of Shall We Dance Studios in Mandeville, LA.
He has lectured at the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOOCA), Tulane University and has even coached the ballroom dance team at Princeton University.
